• I setup Performance Lab on my new blog, with the Twenty Twenty Three theme.

    I checked all the boxes.

What happens is it changed the database from SQL to SQLite.

And because of this, the site content and design wasn’t there anymore!

I uninstalled the plugin from my cPanel, and the database was automatically changed back, and my site content was restored.

Be wary of this plugin because you might lose your site content temporarily until it’s uninstalled.

  • I checked all the boxes.

I just installed the plugin to test, andhere’s what I found:

    1) The SQLite feature is OFF by default. You have to specifically turn it ON.

    2) Just below this (off-by-default) setting is this explainer message which is clearly highlighted such that you simply cannot miss it:

Enabling this module will switch to a separate database and install WordPress in it. You will need to reconfigure your site, and start with a fresh site. Disabling the module you will get back to your previous MySQL database, with all your previous data intact.

So, perhaps the real lesson here is for us to not go click-happy and turn on things without reading what we’re clicking.

Thanks for the review @kaplanauren. We do have a warning in place for users who may be considering to use SQLite, as highlighted above.

Rather than uninstalling the plugin, users can also disable the same setting in order to switch back to the original MySQL database if they wish. That way they can continue to use the other features of plugin on a site with existing content.

As reviews are important to use, is there anything else I can assist with if you’d like to give the plugin another try?

Hi @jamesosborne, I’m experiencing the same issue but I can’t access the tab plugin anymore, and so I can’t disable the plugin. Can you help me fix the issue please? Thanks !

    Hi @florianels,

If you’d like to open an individual support topic as per www.ads-software.com forum guidelines I’d be happy to assist from there. If you’re unable to access the wp-content/plugins directory you may also reach out to your hosting provider, who may be able to assist. Please share whatever detais you feel necessary within the support topic. I’ll keep an eye out! Thank you.
