• dear forum,

this might be a stupid question and probably it has been answered already in some posts. since i couldn?′t find it quick, it might be a good thing to ask bundle it and ask again.
i?′m not quite clear about a trackbacks behaviour.
from what i?′ve seen the ping is sent directly after publishing a post.
    but what happens, if
    – the post is changed
    – set private
    – set to draft?
i just did a test and although the post was not longer accesible on my blog, the trackback was still getting it. is wordpress refreshing the ping/trackback after a while that updated content gets updated on other sites as well?

it might be just a misunderstanding of mine about how the system works, but it would be great if someone could give me a short explanation…

    thanks!

  • The trackback will only send it out once when you first publish your post. You can send it again (I believe) if you re-enter the same trackback url and save your entry again.

    Yes.

what happens to changed trackbacks or when a post is deleted..?

Once a trackback is sent to the destination blog, it becomes the property of the destination blog’s author. As such, only the author of the destination blog can edit it or delete it.
