Trackbacks not working

  • my blog doesn’t seem to sending out trackbacks. I receive trackbacks just fine. I see no errors in logs. As there any option that needs to be set to turn on outbound trackbacks?

  • trackbacks are inbound .. someone is tracking it back from their website to yours.

    if you add a trackback to a post of yours on your site.. it will “ping” or pingback that website.

    oops, wrong terminology. Yes, I am receiving trackbacks, but I’m not pinging other sites when I post and try to use the trackback URI from another site.

    are you adding the trackback url of their site to the trackback field of your post? that way when you publish the post it will ping theirs? A) they could have pings turned off or moderated B) they might not have it set to allow pings

    yes, I’m adding their trackback url of the post to the trackback field of my post. I know the site is accepting pings because I can ping it back from my wordpress.com blog, but not my personal wordpress blog.

    I think I found the problem. I had a very long list of update services to ping. When creating a post, I think it timed out while pinging each of those services. Either way, after truncating the the update services list, I can now ping.

    good deal! I might have to look at mine as well with that being said.. I do have a long list too.
