    Hi all.

    I’ve been using this plugin on my blog and it’s been online more than a year. Recently I receive many trackback spams in my 404 errors log, started about a week ago and now it’s increasing.

    /page/2/trackback/
    /category/tutorials/trackback/

    Is this kind of trackback is the same with WordPress trackback?
    Why it just appear recently? Not a year ago?
    Another new kind of spam/hacking attempts?
    How to stop it? Their IPs are never the same, can’t block.
    Does anybody has similar problems?

    Please share.

  • I’m getting a similar issue on a bunch of old images that are really gone but I have a feeling it has something to do with the recent attacks. I had over 7500 404s from 102 IP addresses just today. My entire site usually only gets 1500-2000 hits a month.

    Any ideas about this, every day wp security shows:
    /trackback

    and the same Ip
    I don′t have a trackback folder

    Hello Guys,Watch Out! it seems its a vulnerability of xmlrpc
    if you have wp 3.5 maybe this is the cause, if somebody has another solution, please tell me, Thanks
    the solution here: (read carefully)

    https://perishablepress.com/wordpress-xmlrpc-pingback-vulnerability/

    # protect xmlrpc
    <Files xmlrpc.php>
    Order Deny,Allow
    Deny from all
    </Files>

    To the best of my knowledge there is no such issue in WordPress 3.5.1 If you have concrete, empirical, evidence to the contrary, please see the Security_FAQ.

    Thanks moderator to clarify this, I will erase the comment if its an error.

    Hello, I’m back to report some new info.

    I’ve just installed Bad Behavior plugin, and after it I never received such trackback spam. So I think:

    Better WP Security + Bad Behavior = awesome

    Great!
