• I trying to use the Google Analytics program to give me data regarding what the viewers to my website and blog are doing on my site and how they find it. I don’t think that I have the proper code installed to give me data for my main domain and also the subdomain of my blog. I’m not getting all the data that I should be getting.

Where do I need to go in my WP Dashboard to remove the wrong code and to add the correct java script code to the posts of my blog? I don’t think that the GA settings are configured from a plugin or a widget. How do they get installed into my blog? I can’t see where the code for this function gets installed into my blog. Any help with this process would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • the analytics code goes directly into footer.php in your theme, above the </body> tag

there are also plugins that do this for you, your choice

I don’t see the current code for GA in the footer.php file for the Suffusion theme that I am using, so I still don’t see where it was installed from into my blog. I need to know this if I’m going to change it. What plugin do your recommend for this function? I’m using WP 3.0.1.
Will a plugin for work with my WP blog also give me data from the pages of my regular site since my blog is a subdirectory of my domain? I don’t think that the current code that I have installed on my pages is doing this? Thanks for your quick response to my request.

I think that suffussion has an option built into the themes optio menu to add that code

I add each domain and subdomain separately to analytics, so the tracking code is slightly different for each

You would need to add tracking code to your domain site and your subdomain separately.

I still don’t know exactly where to go in my dashboard or theme settings to check on the current code or to change it for use with my blog. If I make different settings for my basic domain pages and then for my blog, which form of the code do I use in these files? If I just install a plugin for the Google Analytics service in my WP files, will that produce data for both sets of statements? I’m sorry to have all of these questions, but this doesn’t seem to me to be a simple process. I appreciate your help.

I don’t use suffussion, not exactly sure where the setting is

When you set up your domain or subdomain on your analytics account, you are given the code to use

A plugin will not produce data for both, only for your wordpress blog. But you shouldn’t need a plugin, you should just need to find the option in the suffussion options menu

You would need to put the code analytics gives you on your basic domain page…. the code always goes in the footer, above the </body> tag

The control for this function is in the Suffusion theme’s Blog Features, and it apparently installs and activates the java script code for tracking users of my blog. I think that it isn’t going to report any data from the pages of my basic domain statements, although the Google Analytic settings are for my basic site: https://christianityetc.org and not specifically for the subdirectory of my my blog.

Should I use a totally different tracking program and code to get a complete report of data for my basic web pages? The AWstats program from the control panel of my domain does generate a report, but I’m not sure how well it tracks the users on my blog. I’m trying to improve the SEO details on my site, so these reports should help me to do that.

I guess that the set up for my blog is OK. Your suggestions regarding programs to track the user data on my regular site would be helpful Thanks for your help with this.
