We get approximately 600 spam submissions to comment forms a day on one particular website.
CAPTCHA is letting about 20 per day through. Is that about the expected false negative rate?

When we classify a comment as spam using wordpress comments admin page, does this train the CAPTCHA? Will the false negatives decrease?

I’ve upped the difficulty level in the Google settings, and also upgraded to v3. So far no false negatives today, so all is good.

    Hello @nikdow

Thank you for your message and for using our plugin.

Based on those numbers, that is a false negative rate of around 3.3%, which is pretty good. As such there is no “idea” or “average” rate, since it all depends on what the CAPTCHA is used for.

Also, the CAPTCHA is provided by Google, the plugin is the connector. This means that the plugin does not run any CAPTCHA checks itself. However, we will definitely look into your suggestion, and see if there is a way to send “feedback” back to the Google CAPTCHA service that can help them improve their detection rate.

I hope the above helps. Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Have a great day.
