• I have been using WooCommerce PayPal Pro Payment Gateway for about a year without issue. After an update to WooCommerce last week, this module has been generating errors. When you go to checkout, enter your credit card info if shows an error message “an error in transaction…” and stays on the checkout page. However in Woocommerce orders there is an order created with the status of Cancelled. In PayPal, the charge has been recorded as successful. No emails are sent to the customer.

In the logs you see that the transaction went thro and that PayPal sent back a correct response saying approved with all the details, but nothing is recorded in WooCommerce.

If I do a transaction using the PayPal direct standard checkout, the order is correctly updated in Woocommerce and the order is displayed as complete.

    I have disabled this module

  • I know. NOW is not the time for website issues for a small businesses. This is killing me.

Everyone check and see if your paypay pro issue is fixed! Mine is but now everything is small… the wording on every page. Its like everything shrunk somehow. Is this the case for yours?

I take that back. Its NOT working. The error message is gone, AND it takes the customers card but the money is not going to my PayPal account and the order is not showing up in the ‘orders’ section at all. Obviously that is not ‘fixed’

luckily for me, I have a backup that I forgot about, I was able to download the previous version of the plug-in and of course no issues and it works. Guys this needs to be addressed with your development team. I’ve been breaking my head and spent so many hours on hold and on the phone to come to this conclusion. During these trivial times, it would have been nice if your team would have gone through all these steps with me.

@djdannyc, which version are you saying that works in your site?

    Thank you

This is all that is recorded in the logs :
This transaction cannot be processed. The merchant’s account is not able to process transactions. (Transaction Error) something is wrong.

But there is nothing else logged.

However, the order is recorded in the WooCommerce orders but with this message in the log:
Paypal Credit Card Payment Failed with message: ‘This transaction cannot be processed. The merchant’s account is not able to process transactions.’

I am really sorry that some of you are seeing this issue. I have looked at this for some time but can’t figure out where the issue is coming from. My transactions work fine with the latest version of WooCommerce.

WooCommerce sometimes makes so big and breaking changes that it is hard for one developer like me to figure out what they have done.

Usually that error means that PayPal pro is not active within your PayPal merchant account. Did you call PayPal to confirm that PayPal pro is active in your account?
