We have been using Sermon Browser on our church’s website for the past several years. At the time we started using it, Sermon Browser was the only choice and they provided an active forum with fairly quick and helpful responses. However, it looks like it has been retired for some time. We are having major issues right now and need to do something quickly to get us back and running. Is there an easy way to use sermon manager with all the years and years of sermons from sermon browser? I really don’t want to have to manually link up every sermon, so if there is a solution out there, let me know. Thanks for your help!

    Hey @isign4jc,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Yeah absolutely, we are actually working with the team at Sermon Browser to set up automated migration, among other things. You can check this out in our public roadmap – https://trello.com/b/xGz75VJD.

    Long story short:
    – We will be including some popular features from Sermon Browser in Sermon Manager over the next few weeks.
    – Once those features are in, we will be working on the migration functionality.

They are not able to continue with the Sermon Browser project due to competing priorities but they recognize the needs of their users hence why we will be working together to ensure Sermon Browser users aren’t left in the dark.

The bad news is, this is still a few weeks away, but we’re working on it! ??

Thanks, Igor. I’m really excited about this news. We may have to do a temporary fix for the next few weeks, then, until you guys are ready. Thanks so much!

Just in case you happen to know…our problem right now is: we enter in all the sermon details and link up the sermon file. Then it says “sermon saved to database”, but then nothing shows up on the website. I have tried a dozen or so times. I’ve tried replacing various code snippets in the php code to hopefully fix any deprecated code, but still nothing. Any ideas that might help us in the interim while we wait for the migration you’re working on?

    Thanks again, Mindy

I just read about Sermon Browser migration to Sermon Manager. I took over maintaining a church website and they have older sermons in Sermon Browser but newer sermons have been added via another plugin called Series Engine. I am trying to combine all the sermons into one location. Is there anyone who would be willing to assist me via email how I might accomplish this? Thanks!

    Hi @terierni,

Yeah we are working with Mark from the Sermon Browser to handle that migration, the roadmap officially starts next week and will go for several weeks, since a lot of work is being done.

We are building in ability to migrate from Joomla, Sermon Browser and even Series Engine but at this stage i can’t say how far off those are, definitely in the next 2-3 months anyway.

How many sermons do you have in each plugin? Also are your sermons stored on your web hosting or on cloud storage such as Amazon S3?

    Kind Regards,
    Igor

    Hi Igor,
Thanks for the reply. Our sermons would be stored on web hosting (I assume) via WordPress. I am still not 100% sure. The sermons in Sermon Browser do not show in the WordPress Library. As for how many in each, Sermon Browser has weekly from 2015 back to 2012 and Series Engine is 2016-2017. We’d like to keep using Series Engine so I’d like to be able to migrate all the older ones over. Currently if I view a sermon I can download from the page, but to download each, catalog and re-upload into Series Engine would be too much monkey-motions. If you can recommend something, we don’t want to lose those old years and right now we have no way for members to access on our site. TY!

    Hi @terierni,

Thanks for that information. Unfortunately i don’t think there is an easier way than a very long copy and paste process, not at this stage anyway.

As i mentioned, in a couple of months we will have ability to migrate from any other solution into Sermon Manager, so you could wait for that. Your 3 options are:

    – Wait a couple of months
    – Engage a WordPress developer to build a custom migration script
    – Do it all manually

Nothing ideal, but at least you know where you stand currently.

    All the best,
    Igor

    Hi Igor,

Any chance you have an update on the completion of the migration script from SB to Sermon Manager? Our church has been using SB for some time, and the lack of updates have caught up with us. I downloaded and installed/activated Sermon Manager, but there doesn’t appear to be an import function to bring in SB sermons. If a script hasn’t been written, is there anywhere I can go with details on a manual migration? It appears your Sermon Manager Roadmap Trello board shows “import from other plugins” as doing since late September. Thank you!

    Matt

    Hi Matt (and others),

SB migration is already there in the development version, and will be released to the public in (hopefully) just couple days! ??

We are just finishing off all features and doing some final testing.

    Thanks all for your patience!
