Transfer of stats and subscribers
-
Hello, we are migrating from one site to another and need your help with transferring stats and subscribers. The previous site was https://blogs.bbk.ac.uk/mapping-museums/. I’ve added the new site address in the link box.

Hi there,
I have moved your stats and subscribers from https://blogs.bbk.ac.uk/mapping-museums/ to https://mapping-museums.bbk.ac.uk/. Let us know if anything doesn’t look right!
I see that https://blogs.bbk.ac.uk/mapping-museums/ is still accessible on the web. Are you going to set up a redirect to https://mapping-museums.bbk.ac.uk/?
Hi Emily,
Thanks, that’s great. The stats are showing up but for some reason I don’t have access to the subscriber list. In Jetpack > Settings > Newsletter, it asks me to ‘Connect to manage your subscriptions settings’. When I do that, using the WordPress.com account that I was using on the previous site, after clicking the Approve button I just get a message saying ‘You don’t have any sites yet’. I’m not sure where to go from there to establish the connection between our site and my WordPress.com account.
And yes, we will be redirecting once the new site is fully approved and functional.
Hi there,
I’m having a look at your site’s Jetpack connection, and I see that it’s only a
site-only
connection, which shows the WordPress.com connection hasn’t gone through correctly.Could you please try the following steps:
- Navigate to your Jetpack Dashboard on your new website (
https://mapping-museums.bbk.ac.uk/
). - Click on the “My Jetpack” section to see if the correct WordPress.com account is connected.
- If the account is incorrect or not connected, use the “Connect” button to re-establish the connection with the right account.
Look forward to your updates!
Hi Joseph,
Thanks for the response. I’ve tried these steps many times but I’m not getting anywhere. Visiting Dashboard > My Jetpack shows that there is no connection. I click on the ‘connect your user account’ button, which takes me through the connection process. The correct account is logged in, I approve the account, and am then taken to a page that says ‘you don’t have any sites yet’. Returning to the dashboard shows that there is still no account connection.
Clearly there is a problem with connecting the site, and I hope you can suggest something else to try.
Hi again,
Sorry to hear our suggestion is not working!
I’m not really sure why this would be occurring; as a next step, can you please try a full reinstall of Jetpack?
- Start at Plugins → Installed Plugins.
- If Jetpack is currently active, click Deactivate to disable it. Then click Delete to remove it from your site:
- Go to Plugins → Add New.
- Search for “Jetpack – WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth”.
- Click Install and then Activate.
When Jetpack is installed, click the green Set up Jetpack button to reconnect, ensuring that you are logged in to the right account when you do.
This handy guide explains that process in more detail:

Let us know what happens!
Hi,
I’ve reinstalled Jetpack as suggested, then tried to reconnect the site and got the same result. After approving the connection, I was taken to a page on WordPress.com that says ‘you don’t have any sites yet’. Back on our site, the Jetpack dashboard showed the site as not connected to Jetpack.
Just to rule out a browser issue, I cleared the cache and all cookies, tried the reconnection process again and unfortunately got the same result.
Is there anything else that we could try?
Hello @mliebenroodbbk,
Thanks for getting back to us.
I recommended installing the?Delete Jetpack Options?plugin to eliminate any lingering Jetpack settings and data from your site. This step is to ensure we don’t have any old data interfering with the process.
Once activated, the plugin will remove any stale Jetpack data on your site.
Deactivate the plugin, then try to reinstall and reconnect again Jetpack again.
Furthermore, I see from your blog’s audit log that the site has been going back and forth between private mode and public more.
Please know that Jetpack will need a publicly accessible site to work properly. If you are using any plugins to switch on maintenance mode on your site, please make sure the mode has been switched off before trying to reconnect Jetpack.
Let us know how that goes!
Hello Joseph,
I installed the delete options plugin and reinstalled Jetpack as you recommended. Attempting to reconnect the user account has the same result as detailed in my previous posts unfortunately.
I don’t really understand why the logs you mention would show our site as being private. It has been online the whole time since I started this thread, and has not been placed in maintenance mode at any time. The only times I imagine it would briefly be in maintenance mode are when we’ve been updating plugins – as you know this process usually only takes a few moments.
If unintentionally being in ‘private mode’ is a possible reason for Jetpack being unable to reconnect the user account, then it clearly needs looking into but I wouldn’t know how to diagnose that. Do you have any advice?
Hi there, @mliebenroodbbk,
I still can see the connection on a site-only status — it’s nice and healthy, which is excellent news, but it’d be better if we can manage to have it connected via a WordPress.com account.
At this point, I suspect we need to investigate by involving sensitive data like the email addresses involved in the connection issue, which is not safe to do in a public forum for privacy matters.
Could you contact us via this contact form and mention this thread so we can connect the dots?
Thanks!
