• Hi,

Ive the following situation – I moved one blog data from WP 3.0.1 to 3.4.It was impossible to do it by upgrade because level of customization was ridiculous and updates were impossible. So I exported posts, categories, users and everything else which was possible. However in WP 3.0.1 post table in database has 3 columns for post meta data. In WP 3.4 we have separate table for post meta.

Problem is that we are losing huge amount of manually created with years meta data and it will affect SEO results for sure.

Can you wild wordpress gurus give me some ideas how to solve this problem and manage to transfer the data. I tried with some meta conversion plugins to extract it but they simply dont detect valid records. Manual table export/import is unthinkable due to different tables structure…

    Thanks for attention

  • Your new installation will have negligible data in the database. You can safely drop all the tables in the new database. Then import the backed up data into that. All the required tables will be automatically created.
