• I own a Domain Name and originally was thinking of putting up a free website using WordPress.com and that name. However, WordPress.com doesn’t allow adsense, or affiliate marketing.

Consequently, I’m thinking about setting up a free site using Blogspot, and when I’m ready, transferring that site onto a WordPress site hosted by a commercial hosting company. Have any of you had experience doing this and if so, would it be much of a problem?

  • You could later import your Blogspot posts/comments via internal WordPress importer = https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Importing_Content

blogspot will not allow to redirect specific post pages, so most of the hardwork you put up on the blogspot in terms of seo will go wasted, though, as posted above, importing content is not a big issue,

perhaps starting off with a domain and a self hosted wordpress installation to begin with is a better idea,

Add the plugin “advertising manager” to your plug ins and you can then put in the adsense code and add it to your blog.
It also lets you add any ad copy you wish.
I agree that starting with the hosted wordpress is by far the best way to go.
