I recently changed hosting providers and when the website transferred over I moved from having an SSL certificate to not having one. When I transferred, it kept redirecting us to the old https:// site so we found that if we deleted Shield it resolved the issue.

I have tried re-installing Shield but it looks like the old config data is still in the database so it keeps taking the site back down again by directing people to the old address.

Is there a way to clear this out so I can re-enable the plugin?

very strange… Shield should have no bearing on your site’s address and wouldn’t be doing any URL redirection.

If you want to reset the plugin to its default settings like a fresh installation, please see here:

    The plugin must be active.

Yes that worked! Before doing the reset I downloaded and installed shield again, and as soon as I clicked on ‘activate’ it immediately tried to go https again and failed.

Thank you. Very odd, I agree.

Well I’m glad that worked for you… I took a look into the plugin to see what might be stored there for the site, but there’s nothing. There must have been some combination at play there perhaps with another plugin… not sure.

    Glad it worked!
