I installed WordPress on my home Macintosh desktop to learn the system before uploading to a hosting service. But I will be traveling with a laptop in a couple of weeks.

How do I transfer the work I’ve done to the laptop?

Thanks in advance for any help,

    John Kendrick

  • Hi,

You just need to install the configuration and setup the wordpress as it is on desktop. After that take a backup of your current blog and upload it on laptop.

    Thanks,

Seems almost too easy, Shane. So I just create a new installation of WordPress and MAMP on my laptop, then export the website from my old desktop blog and import it into the laptop blog.

Hmmm. I’ll have to try that tomorrow.

    thanks,

    John

One more question? In either process–export/import or backup, does it involve any files from MySQL which, on my computer, are in the MAMP directory? Or does this just replace the files in the WordPress directory?
