• Hi,

I have a WordPress blog that I would just like to transfer from one hosting package to another, with the same hosting company.

I have backed up all the files, so it should just be a case of loading all the files into the cpanel of the other hosting package.

My only question is: not all of the files seem to be contained in the file manager/cpanel, particularly it would seem, all the actual posts.

Are posts (and maybe other things) all stored in some kind of WordPress database? If so, will there be any problems if I upload all files to different cpanel etc.

    With regards,

    Nick

  • You are correct, the posts are stored in a database, as are other aspects of your website content.
The answer is to backup the database, and then restore it in the new hosting account.
You do not mention if you will be changing the website’s domain.
There is a plugin called DUPLICATOR that helps with this.
Suggest you ask your hosting support to assist with this.

    Hi,

    No, not changing domain name.

Thanks for this. Should all be helpful.
