I have a wordpress.com site, which has a domain mapped to it (I bought the domain through 123-reg).

I wanted to transfer this site a www.ads-software.com site, as I want more control over the layout and design. I followed the instructions here: https://move.wordpress.com/ and bought a Bluehost hosting package. When I signed up for that, and installed WordPress on it, it asked me for the URL of my site.

But now, when I click the ‘Admin Login’ button, it takes me to my usual wordpress.com dashboard.

I’ve tried logging out, and using the username and password that Bluehost have given me to ‘Access your new WordPress Site’, but the details aren’t recognised.

I’m very frustrated and feel like I’ve wasted my money. What am I doing wrong?

OK, I’ve found phpMyAdmin on Bluehost. What do I need to do in it? I can’t see any option for checking what my URL is set as.

Re flushing DNS, Terminal is not accepting my system password.

    So log into phpMyAdmin.

Go into your site database > Options

The top two fields will be

    siteurl
    home

Each of those you will be able to edit.

Also what URL is set in both of those?

I can’t find what you mean by site database > Options.

When I log in I just get a home screen with some info on – there’s a tab at the top for ‘databases’ but nothing that says siteurl or home

Okay so after you have logged into cPanel.

    Scroll down the page to

    database tools

Third from the left will be an icon and wording for phpMyAdmin.

    Click on it.

Sorry, yes I’m in phpMyAdmin, I meant once I’m in there I can’t see Options.

It will then automatically log you into phpMyAdmin.

In the sidebar there will be your site database.

Click on the the + icon and it will extend the database then you can see all of the database tables.

Scroll down to the one that has options in it.

    Click on it.

Then the content of that table will show in the main area next to the sidebar.

That options database table is about the third of the way down the list of all of the tables in the sidebar.

Got it! It’s like talking to a toddler, this, isn’t it?

    Both are set to https://lizbellmedia.co.uk/

Nope its not. No such thing as a stupid question.

Okay so that seems fine for both to be set as that.

Is it something to do with the fact that my domain is/was mapped to my wordpress.com site?

Your domain was mapped to it, but its migrated away now from WordPress.com.

I don’t see why I’m being redirected to the wordpress.com login screen though

Right now, you seem to be the only one that is being redirected – which suggests that there is an issue on your local computer. Can you try deleting all cookies in your browser?

By the way, I’m online with Bluehost support, and they are suggesting that it could be a browser or ISP issue. But it’s happening with Chrome, Firefox, Safari and also on my iPhone.

Yep since the DNS records changed for your domain it takes sometimes between 24-36 hours to be updated. Mostly it can be quicker.

So once that is updated, then the wp-login.php will load currently for your self-hosted WordPress site.
