• Hello everyone,

I am new here so I hope I am posting this on the right site.

I began a blog at wordpress.com and then realised I couldn’t sell from it so I transferred it over to www.ads-software.com and hosted it with Blue Host. However, my domain name is still over at the old blog. Blue Host support told me that the name servers must be changed and that only the people who sold me the domain name could do that. I bought the domain name through upgrades at wordpress.com and have sent them a mail but have not had an answer.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I am supposed to do please?

    Thank you!

Thank you James, that’s great! I’ve had a read through of the instructions but I have just one really (dumb) question. Do I log into the old blog to do this or the new one?

Just to say, I’ve followed instructions and thank you. I’ll post again in a couple of hours to say if it has worked or not.

There’s just one thing that’s bothering me. The nameservers that bluehost gave me have numbers after them that the domain manager wouldn’t accept. I typed in what they would take but how does the domain now find my new blog? I mean the domain manager only accepted the name of Nluehost but how does that direct my domain name towards my new blog?

    I don’t think that’s going to work. I recommend contacting wordpress.com support:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

Or, post on their forums as some of their users may have run into the same problem:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/

I’m with Bluehost and very happy I am too!

    Their name servers are:

    ns1.bluehost.com
    ns2.bluehost.com

the numbers you are seeing after the servers are probably:

    74.220.195.31
    69.89.16.4

this is just the actual IP address of the servers. Forget the numbers and just enter the names and after a while everything should be fine.

    Thank you!
@nick, I hope you are right. For the moment nothing has happened so I am fearing the worst but we’ll see. I’ve had such problems exporting and importing even though the process is simple so I’m hoping this will be a smoother ride!

Can take 24-48 hours sometimes – how long has it been so far?

About 3 hours! Very impatient, I am!

    Yes you are ??
I’m the same – been where you are – just want to get on with things!
Hope it all works for you.

Thank you for your help. I’ll be back on here anyway if it didn’t work after 48 hours. Have a nice weekend!
