When I set up a WordPress site for the company I work for, I already had a wordpress.com account linked to my personal email address. Intentionally or unintentionally, that is the account that got linked to my company’s website. That means that Jetpack emails about our website are sent to my personal email address. I thought I could fix that by setting up a wordpress.com account with my work email address and transfer it over, but I have been unable to do that.

I attempted to follow the instructions to transfer my Jetpack connection to another user at https://jetpack.com/support/transfer-your-jetpack-connection-or-plan-to-another-user/, but I don’t see a dropdown to choose a new owner. Further down, under “Troubleshooting,” it says,

In order to change the?Site owner?or?Plan Purchaser:

    • The new user must have an administrator account on your site
    • They must have connected their administrator account to their WordPress.com account

The first bullet point is true, but I cannot figure out how to connect my administrator account to my wordpress.com account. Everything I do ends up taking me in circles

    Hi @philadopolis

What you need to do is:

    • Log into WordPress.com with your work email address (you’ll need to log out of your personal account first via https://wordpress.com/me )
    • Log into your site’s wp-admin with your work admin account.
    • Go to Jetpack > Dashboard and follow the prompts to connect to your WordPress.com account.

Once you’ve done that, you should see the dropdown allowing you to transfer the Jetpack connection.

Alternatively you could just disconnect Jetpack from your personal account via Jetpack > My Jetpack, and then log into your work accounts (on the site and on WordPress.com) and reconnect Jetpack.

Let us know if you have trouble with that.

The first thing didn’t work. I reached a message saying that I don’t have any WordPress sites set up yet. The second thing (disconnecting) looks like it did work. Thanks.

    That’s expected if it’s a new account.

It looks like you got the site connected to the right account. Let us know if you still need help.
