Hi. I am having a very hard time transferring my recipes from 1 theme to another. I have tried several times to transfer the recipes. I keep getting the same message for all the posts/recipes – see example of one message: Failed to import “Brazilian Cheese Bread”: Invalid post type gmc_recipe.
I am in the process of rebuilding my site and there are over 100 recipes to transfer. I have tried the tools tab (import/export) – does not work, keep getting same messages for all recipes posts. The name of my site is https://www.gemsliving.com.
The new theme already has a built in plugin. It does not matter if I download the getmecooking plugin or not, I still can’t transfer my recipes, ingredients and steps. I even ask my web concierge at my hosting company for help, no one can figure out how to properly transfer them. I cannot copy and paste over 100 recipes to the new site. Please let me know as soon as possible how to transfer the recipes to the new site. I am on a deadline to get the new site up and running. Thank you.

Hi. Any news on how I can convert/transfer the recipes to another plugin. GMC (recipes ingredients, and recipe steps do not work when activated on new theme. I’d like to use the theme’s plugin that works with sliders etc….. Please let me know as soon as you can.

    Hi tamcarib,

Sorry but I didn’t have time to look at it last weekend.

I am currently working at a client site until Wednesday, so will have time to look at it properly this Thursday.

    Thanks.

    Hi Tamara,

I am very sorry for the slow reply, I have had a very busy week.

I have done some testing and for me it works when I export and import ‘All content’, but not when I use the other (Recipe*) options. I don’t know why this is yet, but we will look into it.

It turns out this is how WordPress works by design, to export you need to choose ‘all content’. The individual exports do import the data but do not hook it up back to the original posts (in this case it imports the ingredients / steps but does not link them to the recipe).
