transferring wordpress blog to squarespace site

I’ve had my wordpress blogsite with intothedarkroom template/theme for 5yrs. Building a squarespace for my photography website now and squarespace staff tell me that my wordpress doesn’t have an update so the transfer cannot be done. Can someone help?
After squarespace tried to get my wordpress blog to transfer for two weeks, they replied with this, “At this time I’m afraid there isn’t an update available on the WordPress import issue. I apologize for any inconvenience posed here.” Then they said, “I’d suggest getting in contact with WordPress to see if they’re able to provide you with a new xml file for your site that is free of any widgets/extensions/plugins and see if it’ll import into a new trial site.”
