• I’m moving a WordPress website from DreamHost (which has it’s own administrative backend for managing accounts) to a host provider that uses cPanel. My question is about .htaccess. Is there anything I need to be aware of, or any special steps I need to take when transferring the website? Can I copy the .htaccess file as is, or do I need to strip W3 Total Cache from .htaccess first?

  • You should be able to keep the contents of the .htaccess file. If you are worried though you can delete the content, and when the plugin is installed and active on the new server it should add the contents back to the htaccess file.
