So I think I messed up and I only copied the wp-content folder to my computer and now am trying to change webhost. I installed WP on the new webhost and deleted the default wp-content to replace it with mine.

When I log in to dashboard nothing from my website is showing. Am I missing a few steps? or have I really screwed up.

But all the files for the theme and plugins are stored in wp-content. Surely I dont have to rebuild this website and maybe its just a directory issue?

The webhost I transferred website to, the website is now an addon domain so directory is a little different..

    Can anyone help me?

you need to import database too, database is what stores all posts and content.

Files are just files, all settings, content anything you write/change in wp is stored in database.
wp-content folder contains just media and plugins/themes files – core files what you donwloaded.

How do I get the database? I cancelled my old webhost account today..
Is it too late? If I have to make this website again I’m going to die.

request your webhost to provide you a backup. do it quickly.

Thankyou laliz, I managed to successfully transfer the website with alot of help from live chat. But if it wasn’t for your comment I probably would have lost the database.
