Translate “category” in blog pages?

  • Dear support,
    Is it possible to translate “Category” in Bulgarian as well? My site language is set to Bulgarian, I am using Loco translate, but I couldn’t find that string. I’ve contacted wordpress support and they adviced me to open thread here.

    Is the string provided by your theme? What is the theme? Have you read the FAQs about this? https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/faqs/specific-words

    The Theme is Olsen. I think it belongs to the WordPress core, because it doesn’t depend of the theme.

    The string “Category:” is in the WordPress core with context as follows:

    _x( 'Category:', 'category archive title prefix' )

    This is translated into Bulgarian in the community translations.

    The text is also available without the colon, as:

    _x( 'Category', 'taxonomy singular name' )

    I can’t say whether your theme is using either of these translations or its own version. You will have to look at the source code, or ask the theme author.

    Back to your question, when you say you can’t find it in Loco Translate, (1) Where are you looking? and (2) Why do you need to translate it when it is already translated?

    Take a look here, I need to translate “category” in Bulgarian.

    I tried to find a way to edit via Wp admin -> plugins -> loco translate -> and edit the Theme Olsen Bulgarian language because it wasn’t 100% translated, but didn’t find “category”

    You told me that the string is provided by the core, so why are you trying to find it in the theme?

    Install the Bulgarian core translations and if your theme is using them it will work. As I’ve said, that’s IF it is using them and if it is doing so correctly. As your theme is not open source I cannot verify this for you.

    I’m not sure if it’s provided by the core. The language is set to Bulgarian, maybe it’s WordPress is not 100% translated. Thanks anyway.
