    Thanks for reaching out.

We are working on the translations to be supported in the POS right now. ??

The translation support into other languages, including Russian should be ready by March in an upcoming new version of the POS.

Good news. We just released translation support with version 2.0+

The POS uses the www.ads-software.com translation workflow to translate the POS, language packs are installed automatically if they are available.

    You can learn more here:
    https://translate.www.ads-software.com/projects/wp-plugins/point-of-sale-pos-woocommerce/

Since it’s just been launched, we are hoping community members such as yourself would help us translate the POS for your language Russian. We’ve had a few languages start already!

I hope you will consider helping with the translations.

I donate Dutch (Nederlands) translations and see them applied on WP Admin panel.
The POS itself is unfortunately still in English.

Does translation for POS application work?
    Running v2.2.1 release.

Thank you for supporting the translation effort with Dutch. Yes, translation in the POS is supported in version 2.2.1

For the translations to import into the POS plugin from the translation database on WordPress, the stable release strings need to be translated and approved at 95%.

Right now, we see Dutch is only showing translation of 3% of the strings, https://translate.www.ads-software.com/locale/nl/default/wp-plugins/point-of-sale-pos-woocommerce/. Once the percentage complete for the translations is 95%, the translations will automatically load into your WordPress admin when the general language settings is set to Dutch.

Okay, will spend the additional translations later tonight.

I was referring to Loco Translate which I did on WP installation.
Translation to Dutch of the WP plug-in on admin panel is working, not on POS application. Even though I translated the application buttons.
Is this expected behavior or can I get it working locally to validate translations before submitting?

    Rgds,
    Ferry

The Point of Sale front-end uses JS and requires a different translation workflow compared to the admin panel.

The plugin uses JSON files for the .js files from the supported wp-i18n JavaScript package workflow for internationalization support. As outlined in this post: https://make.www.ads-software.com/core/2018/11/09/new-javascript-i18n-support-in-wordpress/ and similar to the workflow used by block editor to load translation .js files for translation as outlined here: https://developer.www.ads-software.com/block-editor/developers/internationalization/#load-translation-file for the plugin.

The translation files must be in the JED 1.x JSON format. Using the process to make a json file here: https://developer.www.ads-software.com/cli/commands/i18n/make-json/

As a result the file name sample would be the following for the js translations:
    point-of-sale-pos-woocommerce-nl_NL-[md5].json

We hope that helps clarify how we are handling the translation files for the plugin, if you are interested in trying to perform translation outside the WordPress translation workflow.
