    Thanks for submitting a translation!

Unfortunately, the results of translations submitted through the translation site will not be immediately available for your site. The editor in charge of the language needs to review your effort. Once approved, it will be merged with the next release of WP. When people update, everyone will be able to use your translation. Naturally this is all going to take a while. What you can do in the interim is update your local language files. You will update the appropriate entry in one of the .po files. Then you will need the gettext translation utility to generate a .mo file from your modified .po file. Use the msgfmt tool that is part of the gettext package.

WP updates will overwrite your local efforts, but they should by then have your translation, so not a problem. Another option is to use the “gettext” PHP filter to alter whatever the default translation is. The PHP callback you would create will check for the email text in the translation stream. When found, replace the default translation with whatever you like. There is likely a third option. The email message is likely itself filterable, or if not, it’s probably part of a “pluggable” function where you can replace the core function with one of your own creation. If this option sounds attractive, I can find out what filter or function you should use. I don’t know it offhand.
