• First off, I’m not fully up to speed on permalinks, so I’m not sure if the issue is on my end or with PolyLang or something else.

    I recently thought that I got all my links sorted out and the site was looking good. Then one of two things (I can’t remember which I did first) made me unable to access my non-english catalog pages:
    -(I think I did this first) I updated all my PolyLang related plugins -including WooCommerce, which has translated pages
    -I temporarily switched my permalinks off of default, and then back again

    I have checked the translations of non-WooCommerce pages, with the WooCommerce plugins on and off, so that doesn’t seem to be the issue. Oddly, the only pages that work with translation, are the individual product pages. No other translated pages can be found.

    I’m on a windows server, so I think that the issue might be related to not having a mod_rewrite (or compatible) extension. I’ve checked my php info and did not see anything aside from ‘url_rewriter.tags’ but I don’t know if that means that I have ‘url_rewriter’, which is the Microsoft-IIS equivalent of mod_rewrite.

    Related Plugins I use:
    Polylang 1.7.6
    Polylang Slug 0.1.0
    WooCommerce 2.3.11
    WooCommerce Polylang Integration 0.2

    The site is a test version before we setup the real thing:

    Hi!

    Could you try to deactivate all your plugins and switch to Twenty fifteen. Check if everything is OK.

    Then activate Polylang, switch to your current theme and activate your other plugins one by one, checking each time that everything is OK (or not), until you find the source f your problem.

    I’m using a child theme of Storefront and a lot of plugins for content, so I guess that partially explains why almost everything is blank in Twenty Fifteen, but the menu is gone and when I activate only Polylang, the flags don’t appear.

    You can reassign your menus to Twenty Fifteen menus locations.

    Ok, I did that, and the menus (without translations) worked by themselves and with WooCommerce, but disappear when Polylang is turned on. However when the flags are assigned other than the menu, they appear and work.

    Sorry. I am lost in what you did exactly.
    My suggestion was to make things in that order:
    * Twenty Fifteen alone:
    * Twenty Fifteen + Polylang
    * Twenty Fifteen + Polylang + your theme
    * Twenty Fifteen + Polylang + your theme + other plugins activated one by one

    Sorry, I thought my post had gone through. It’s hard to tell when I seem to have a long delay for it.

    – Twenty Fifteen alone: Main menu shows up and works, but no translations to test of course.

    – Twenty Fifteen + Polylang: Main menu disappears but translation flags show up and seem to work.

    – Polylang + my theme: Main menu is back but does not change language with the translation flags. However pages will translate.

    – Polylang + my theme + woocommerce: Translation flags only seem to change page title and some of the individual product pages.

    – Polylang + my theme + woocommerce + polylang-slug: breaks translated pages.

    – Polylang + my theme + woocommerce + WooCommerce Polylang Integration: works overall, except for a few irregularities.

    I’m guessing it was changing back to default links and polylang-slugs that did it, since I wouldn’t need the slugs to be the same for that. However, I still feel like I either don’t understand permalinks, or something is wrong overall with my setup, as strange quirks keep popping up. I tried to see if I didn’t have the IIS equivalent of mod_rewrite, which I’ve read would mess up changing permalink settings. No luck figuring it out though.

    You should re-assign the menus when changing the theme (two different themes may have different menu locations).

    Please read the sticky post. The solution is probably here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/my-menu-doesnt-change-with-the-language

    I don’t support WooCommerce Polylang Integration and polylang-slug. Please ask support to their respective authors.
