Translated sentence is incorrect
-
Hi,
The following sentence displayed in Checkout Blocks is incorrect as Japanese.
“あと 4242 で終了する Visa (有効期限は 12/26)”“Via %1$s card ending in %2$s”
should be translated as
“%1$s カード (末尾 %2$s) を使用”
Could you please fix it properly?

Hi @mamekichi,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We understand that the translation in Japanese is not accurate in the Checkout Blocks. We appreciate your suggestion for the correct translation. To address this issue, you can use a plugin like Loco Translate to add the correct translation to your site. More information on how to do this can be found here.
Additionally, you can contribute to the WordPress community by suggesting this translation on the WordPress translation platform. You can log in with your www.ads-software.com account and suggest translations. More details on how to translate can be found here.
We value your contribution to making WooCommerce better for everyone. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.
Hi, @afzalpansuvi,
Thank you for your advice.
I have installed “Loco Translate” as per your suggestion. Now, there was a misunderstanding in my previous message.
The original text “あと 4242 で終了する Visa (有効期限は 12/26)” is probably:
%1$s ending in %2$s (expires %3$s/%4$s)The corresponding (although incorrect) Japanese translation would be:
あと %2$s で終了する %1$s (有効期限は %3$s/%4$s)However, neither the original text nor the Japanese translation were found in woocommerce-gateway-stripe-ja.po(I checked after syncing the files).
Further investigation revealed that the original text is in woocommerce-ja.po, and the Japanese translation there is correctly written as:
%1$s **** %2$s (有効期限 %3$s/%4$s)
Now, neither woocommerce-gateway-stripe-ja.po nor woocommerce-ja.po contains the 5-character string “有効期限は”.
Where can I find the file that needs to be fixed?
I forgot to write, but it was translated correctly in “classic checkout”
Hi @mamekichi!
Thank you for providing further details on this.
In these cases, there is an option where you can change any words on your site and replace them with the equivalent you need through a plugin like SayWhat.
With it, you can add the string where the words you want to change are and enter the ones you wish to replace them with, and the plugin will automatically do the rest.
You can check more about it here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/say-what/.
Here you can find the explanation about how to change the string:

Hi,@judagutor
I tried the method you taught me, but I didn’t get the expected result.
After all, where can I find the file that contains the 5 characters “有効期限は”? I want to find the file that is the source of the mistranslation
I executed the command grep -lr ‘有効期限は’ ./ in the wp-content directory.
However, the files shown were unrelated.
grep -lr ‘\E69C89\E58AB9\E69C9F\E99990\E381AF’ ./ or
grep -lr ‘\uE69C89\uE58AB9\uE69C9F\uE99990\uE381AF’ ./ or
grep -lr ‘U+E69C89U+E58AB9U+E69C9FU+E99990U+E381AF’ ./
didn’t yield anything .?? hey @mamekichi
Thank you for reaching back, with further details on this.
it was translated correctly in “classic checkout”
As I understand, a text string is translated as expected in Japanese, with the classic Checkout page enabled, whereas it is not when the block-based Checkout is the one that’s enabled.
Now, neither woocommerce-gateway-stripe-ja.po nor woocommerce-ja.po contains the 5-character string “有効期限は”.
Where can I find the file that needs to be fixed?
As a next step, we need to identify where this string is coming from, as the issue is posted in the Stripe plugin’s forum.
Could you please provide us with screenshots of where it appears, and what appears when the locale is changed to English, so that we can see what you are describing?
If you don’t already have a screenshot service installed, here are a few free options:
https://snipboard.io
https://skitch.com/
https://getcloudapp.com/
https://awesomescreenshot.com/
There is also a walkthrough guide here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/Moreover, the String Locator plugin might come in handy in discovering its origin. Please note, when searching, text strings might include variables. Linked here is an example, for reference.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Hi @anastas10s!
Thanks for the useful information.
I made 4 screenshots.

https://snipboard.io/bshwya.jpg

The first two are Classic Checkout pages. No problems.
The latter two are Checkout Blocks pages.
There’s nothing wrong with the English text,
but the Japanese text is wrong enough to make you think,
“This site is very suspicious. I think it’s trying to deceive me.”
I installed String Locator and searched for “有効期限は”.
It wasn’t there in Stripe or woocommerce, it was just used in a completely different context by plugins that I didn’t activate. Thanks again, @mamekichi, that last bit of information helped much!
After investigating this further, I was able to locate that the translated strings come from WooCommerce (direct link here, for your convenience). Moreover, there appear to be two translations in the Japanese locale, resulting in the experience described in this forum thread?
Below, I am attaching a screenshot for reference.
Direct link to image: https://snipboard.io/HIGFEV.jpg From your profile here, I see that you’re a translation contributor. Nevertheless, feel free to help localize WooCommerce even further by editing the strings in your locale – visit?translate.www.ads-software.com.
I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
We will be happy to help you further.Thank you everyone.
I was able to display correct Japanese.
The following description was found in woocommerce-ja.po.#. translators: %1$s is referring to the payment method brand, %2$s is referring to the last 4 digits of the payment card, %3$s is referring to the expiry date. #: assets/client/blocks/checkout-blocks/payment-frontend.js:4 #: assets/client/blocks/checkout.js:18 msgid "%1$s ending in %2$s (expires %3$s)" msgstr ""
Using Loco Translate, last msgid “” of msgstr “末尾が%2$sの%1$(有効期限 %3$s)” When I rewritten it, it was displayed in correct Japanese as shown below.
末尾が4242のVisa(有効期限 12/26)
