    Hi there

The mentioned website is in German (Default Language) and French. When I switch via switcher from German to French, everything works fine. But when I want to switch back, it doubles the domain address in the browser address field, resulting in an Error 404. Example:

    https://wp.lszj.ch/https:/wp.lszj.ch/

If I want to switch back from the error page to the french site, it does the same, also ending up in a 404 error:

    https://wp.lszj.ch/fr/https:/wp.lszj.ch/

I tried different settings, using Permalinks as it is recommended, tried it with all plugins deactivated – no chance.

    What could I do yet?

Thx for all help in advance

    Hello there,

    Thank you for reaching us!

From what I can see, there is probably a conflict issue with a plugin.

What you can do is to check first the home URL of your website and see if this is correct.

Also, you can send a screenshot here to see how the issue looks like.

If this won’t solve your issue,I recommend opening a ticket here:https://translatepress.com/support/ask-a-presale-question/ mentioning our discussion from here for further investigation.

    Let me know about this!

    Kind Regards,

    Hello Emanuel,

    Thx for your quick answer!

I tried it with all plugins deactivated except TranslatePress: Same behaviour, no change.

    There are no Addons added.

I made some screenshots from the URLS / error message and my settings (below).

    Main URL (German):

URL after switching DE => FR (Translation looks ok):

URL and 404 after DE => FR => DE:

URL and 404 after DE => FR => DE => FR:

    Settings GENERAL:

    Settings Automatic Translation:

    Settings Advanced:

Thx for any well appreciated help in advance…

    Hi again,

I updated TranslatePress plugin to version 2.7.2 today – no effect, still exactly the same troubles…

I opened a ticket in the “presale” section as you mentioned above.

I think it may have to do with the fact that your WordPress Address URL and Site Address URL use http protocol instead of https. Please try to edit them and see if that will help.

    Hi Alex

Thx for your investigation – I really sorry, but it didn’t help:

    It’s the same behaivour again:

    DE => FR = OK

DE => FR => DE = Not OK

    Thx for any further investigations…

    Best regards Klaus

    Hello there,

Would you be able to change the permalink structure to the base one?

I don’t know if this could solve the issue but is worth to try it and see what is happening.

Also, would you be able to change the theme too with Twenty Twenty One and see if the issue appears?

    Let us know about this!

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Emanuel

    Thx for your answer.

If I set the Permalink structure to “Einfach” (German, guess means something like “base”), then I get a TranslatePress message in the settings: “You are not using a permalink structure! Please enable one or install our “Language by GET parameter” addon, so that TranslatePress can function properly.” and can’t even switch from DE to FR. The mentioned addon is not visible on the Addon site.

If I set “Tag und Name” (Day, name), so I get the same behaviour as described above.

Also installing and activating the Twenty Twenty-One Theme doesn’t change anything, I’m really afraid…

Any further ideas how to solve this issue? Thx for your effort in advance and best regards

    Klaus

    Hi,

I believe the issue is possibly related to your server configuration or something similar, not our plugin. It’s possible that there could be some unfavorable redirect rules set on your server-side by your hosting provider which is causing these issues.

I would suggest reaching out to your hosting provider regarding this matter to seek possible solutions.

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
