Translating day names?

Hey,
great calendar plugin. Simple and useful! But…
is there a chance to translate the abbreviations (S M T W T F S) as it doesnt fit in other languages. I already tried to put a language file (mo/po) inside the /includes/languages/ folder which does not seem to have any effect?
