Hello! Great plugin, exactly what I need.

I have one question: I have a bilingual site, and I’m using WPML, but I’m just having a hard time translating the Archive Message. I scanned the plugin, but the string does not appear in WPML to translate it. Is this field not translation-ready? Is there something I can do at my end to fix this?

    Thanks!

hopefully we are talking the same thing but the nesssge that appears above the content is configurable but its default, which is:

“This content has been archived. It may no longer be relevant”

is translatabke, look at line 779.

noting if a different message is set in settings the. That will take precedence.

hopefully that is what you meant

    Hello,

I meant to translate the message that is set under Archiving Settings > Archive Message.
    Is that one translatable?

If not, I could try to use the default message (I do see it in the string translations), but when I remove the one I set in the Archive Message setting, the default one does not appear in its place (I emptied the cache, and viewed in a private/incognito window). And, since I can’t see it, I don’t know if it can be styled with a class, which I do need to be able to do.

    Thanks!

it sounds like we are talking about the same thing.

as I said that is a setting but the default value is translatable. See the code reference I gave.

the default value does not have any html attributes though so it’s not stylable but I’m happy to add an id or class. That being said you can set an id or class in the html view in settings if you want to override the default value

Ok, but I’ve explained that although I can translate the default value, that default value does not show up on the front end for me when I archive a page. I don’t know what could be the issue.

So because of this, but also for more flexibility (adding a class and defining the message), I’ve decided to not use the default value and go to Settings->Reading > Archiving Settings > Archive Message.

So my question is : is this value — the non-default one, the one I set myself — translatable?

the default message is translatable , but once it is set it is not translatable. I’m not even sure how it could be btw as the message could be anything

I don’t think the fact that the message could be anything is in itself a problem when using WPML to translate sites. I’ve just contacted them about this and I can let you know what they say.

Regarding the fact that the default message doesn’t show up once I’ve removed the one I set – do you know what could be causing this issue?

On a staging site, I deactivated all other plugins and used the most recent Twenty theme to see if there was a conflict, but the message still does not show up. I also double checked in the settings/custom field to see if there was any code left behind in the THML source, but there was nothing.

    Thanks!

In case someone wants to translate the custom message they set in this plugin’s settings, here’s how to do it (WPML support gave me this solution):

Since you’ve added the text from the plugin’s “settings” page, it should be available in the admin screen for registration and translation. Could you please recheck?this guide?and confirm whether the text appears in the admin screen? If you find it, you’ll need to select the strings and add them to String Translation for translation.

    That worked for me.
