• This is probably very simple, but a search yielded nothing, and I can’t seem to find a solution, so here goes:
How do you change the names of the weekdays and months in the_time (and the_date)? In 1.0.2, I did it by editing wp-config-extra.php, but that no longer exists. After looking through what feels like several hundred PHP files, I have a headache, but no solution.
I don’t want to translate the entire thing (ie. making a .mo file), just change the values of weekdays and months from English into Danish.
    Any help appreciated ??

  • *bump*
    Anyone? Anyone at all?
    (that was me up there)

Okay, I finally managed to localise the file where you can change these values — for anyone trying to do the same, it’s wp-includes/locale.php.
So I changed the names of all the weekdays and months — and voil??, it worked perfectly. There’s half a day I’ll never get back…

    Oisin,
thanks a million for this tip! Before I found your post, I tried to make sense of an entry in the template documentation (under “Deprecated date/time tags”):

for non-English weekdays you have to edit day-month-trans.php

Only there isn’t any day-month-trans.php included in the original wp distribution, and being a complete n00b I haven’t the faintest idea of what to include. Editing locale.php otoh indeed seems to be the trick. You just saved me a half day….
