Translating words in your plugin that are already translated in wordpress
-
Hello – I have some words that I use in my plugin (like ‘Yes’ and ‘All’) that are already included in the main WordPress translation POT.
What is the protocol? Should I translate them in my plugin, or rely on the WordPress translation?
Currently, all words are written as follows:
__(‘Text to be translated’, ‘plugin-slug’)
So – should I keep this protocol (and therefore translate every single word regardless of whether translated in WordPress), or should I try to re-use words that are translated in WordPress, thus reducing the number of words that need to be translated?
Or is it just developer preference?
Thanks!
