Translation: About me widget (profile link)

    HI,

    hope I got a little help for the translation of the “About me” widget.

    I want to translate the “view profile” link below the title in the widget.

    For this, I’ve translated the string “view profile” in the blocksy-companion.pot (with Poedit) and uploaded the german translation in the languages folder of the plugin.

    But this did not work. Has anyone an idea, how to make this work?

    Hi @bettinag,

    Sorry, it’s very strange that this topic got resolved…

    Anyways, a simpler way to translate the string would be by using the Loco Translate plugin.
    My guess is, you’ve placed the German translation to the wrong place and by using an incorrect name of the file.

    Please let me know if you’re still not able to get this to work.

    I don’t want another plugin on my site ??

    After investigating a bit more time I found out, that renaming the file makes the job. I gave the file the name “blc-de_DE.mo” and now it works. The translation is loaded correctly.

    Is there a possibility to customize the “View Profile” link? Now it displays a category with all my post, because I am the author of all. This make sense for a site with different persons. For me, it would be a better solution to link e. g. to my “about me” page.

    Hey @bettinag,

    1. You could use the Loco Translate plugin, do your translations and after this deactivate/remove it, all translations will remain there.

    2. Glad you figured you how to work with the translations files ??

    3. Unfortunately there is no way to change the link destination, it was built specially to redirect everyone to the author archive page.

    Hi,

    I’ve found another problem with the translated files in the blocksy compagnion plugin.

    When there is another file e. g. my translated “blc-de_DE.mo” the update is not installed. You have to delete it before the update.
