I would like to translate the plugin, as my users don’t speak english.
But the translation won’t show up.

I tried everything – Loco Translate, Poedit, debugging, deactivating plugins, deactivating/activating User Feedback, checking the language settings in the backend, switching themes, deactivating functions. Nothing works.
The files are in the right place, they are valid, all strings are translated everything looks fine.
But the box on the frontend is still in english.

It’s a fresh and clean install of 4.3.1

After changing the global language several times the whole thing works.
So, go over to Settings/global and choose your language from the dropdown and click save. Do this MANY times and you should be fine.

    Hey there

The files are in the right place, they are valid, all strings are translated everything looks fine.

Where did you put the files? How did you name them? IIRC, putting the files inside wp-content/languages should work. If you put them in the plugin folder (which you shouldn’t do*), you need to name them user-feedback-de_DE.mo.

All in all, I recommend you to translate the plugin here on www.ads-software.com: https://translate.www.ads-software.com/projects/wp-plugins/user-feedback

    That’s the officially supported way.

Hi, Pascal! Thanks for getting back so quickly!

It wasn’t the plugins’s fault (see above).
Nice to see the plugin is ready for translation at www.ads-software.com, in case I don’t forget I will add my translation there.
I think it is important to have the plugin – which is great, by the way – translated into different languages as people are easy to irritate when the feedback box addresses them in a language they don’t speak.

Btw: The link doesn’t work, it says “Not found”.

Oh, looks like we were writing at the same time ??

Sounds like a caching issue then. Glad to hear it’s working now.

It would be awesome if you could send us the translations over at GitHub: https://github.com/wearerequired/user-feedback

And thanks for pointing out the “Not found” error. Looks like the translate button is always shown, whether it is translatable or not. Anyway, it’s just a matter of time that it will be possible to translate here
