    Hello,

Since the big update to the Events Calendar, my events are no longer fully translated. No matter what I do or test: the date and price are displayed in English, but I have a German-language site.

New updates for translations are not available in my WordPress account.

Who can help here? Is it due to WordPress, Elementor or The Events Calendar?

    Thanks ??

    Hi @zeitzuwandern ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

At this time, I recommend looking into our Translation Basics and our Translating The Events Calendar knowledgebase articles for ways you can update your translation files.

Please feel free to reach out if you have further questions/concerns.

    Hi @tristan083 ,

do I understand correctly that there is no general update of the translation file ? And that I have to change the individual words manually from English into German?

In my opinion it needs to be adjusted in general, otherwise I will have the same problem with the next update.

The last update oft the translation files was on May, 14th.

    kind regards

    Hi @zeitzuwandern ,

    Thank you for your message.

We take our translation files from https://translate.www.ads-software.com/projects/wp-plugins/the-events-calendar/stable/, which is community-contributed. If you have the time, I recommend contributing to it so we can include it in our future releases.

In the meantime, I’m afraid you’ll have to do the missing translations within your WordPress environment based on the articles I’ve provided.

    Hi @zeitzuwandern,

I would check the translation files. I did an update to the latest version (6.5.0) and the translation files are all wrong. Instead of the correct .mo file content the files contain an HTML document saying “Page not found”.

Interestingly, I tried an update on another test site just now and the translation files seem to be correct.

Have a look in the \wp-content\plugins\the-events-calendar\lang\the-events-calendar-de_DE_formal.mo file and see if it contains an HTML document.

    HI @tristan083

Thank you very much. I had a look to the translation file and could find the missing translation for the word “cost”. I recommended a translation. What term do I need to search for in order to change the variable for the month on the single event page? In the monthly overview it is translated correctly for me, but not in the individual view. Can you give me a tip?

    Thanks !

    Hi @tristan083,

    it’s me again.

I think it’s an Elementor problem.
I create the event pages with the Elementor builder. I just created an event just with WordPress, without Elementor, to test it out. And here the month is translated correctly.

Do you have any idea which file I need to update here to ensure it is translated correctly? Or who I need to contact?

    What does this show:

    https://www.zeitzuwandern.de/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lang/the-events-calendar-de_DE_formal.mo

Clearly there was a problem with the release process becuase the release notes are different in the buggy version to what they should be, as well as all the translation files being corrupted. The buggy installed version has the same release number but the translation files are all wrong, and the release notes are not the latest as shown in version control. If you don’t have FTP access to overwrite the buggy language files you might have to uninstall and reinstall the plugin.

I changed the language files… But it is still the same problem…

I’m not 100% sure which translation file your are supposed to be using, the link above was for one of the German translations files, and it is still wrong.

If you are using the other German language file it isn’t there at all as far as I can tell. It returns a 404 page:

    https://www.zeitzuwandern.de/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lang/the-events-calendar-de_DE.mo

I think you need to double check the translation file you are using and make sure it is there.

I had to rename it. Now it works ??

but it doesn’t change my actual problem

I’m not using Elementor and when I switch the language to German all the strings look to be translated to German correctly.

I’ve compared my german de_DE.mo file with yours and they are different.

Also, your file the-events-calendar.pot looks to be corrupted. In this case it looks to me like the file has been edited and saved with the wrong character encoding; all the hyphens, apostrophe’s, etc have been mangled. Typically, this would happen if you open the file in a word processor such as Word, or something like that, and then save it.

You should revert those files to the correct defaults and see what happens.

    Hi @zeitzuwandern @max-dayala

If you’re still experiencing the issue, please?download a fresh copy of The Events Calendar plugin and re-upload it to your site. The new copy should correct .mo files for all languages.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions or concerns.

Thank you very much for your support.
I downloaded a fresh copy of the plugin and uploaded a copy of the lang foulder.
I think it should be okay now…

But my actual problem is still there ??

Thank you for your support. I have deactivated the extension via Elementor for now. My calendar entries are now only active with WordPress again.

Now I have another problem. My links in the day view are blue, even though I have checked the settings in the customizer and the links are set to green there. What could be the reason for this?
