We have installed (and like/may buy) the plugin for our site. However, the site is in Portuguese (pt_BR set in wpconfig).

The problem is that the translation is not working i.e. the Portuguese translation is not appearing.

I have read the FAQ and confirmed that the “UPCP-pt_BR.mo” and “UPCP-pt_BR.po” files are in the ‘Lang’ folder/subdirectory of the plugin.

Please note that there are other plugins with translation files already working on the site

    Any help gratefully accepted

  • Hi Slat,

In your WordPress admin, if you go to Settings > General, what is chosen for the Site Language setting? In your case, I’m assuming it should be Português do Brasil. If it isn’t, please switch it to that and try again.

If it is set to that, then are any Portuguese translations appearing anywhere in the plugin admin or on the front end? It could be that the translation file is missing translations for a few or many strings. All of our translations are submitted by users and, as such, we cannot guarantee that they are accurate or complete.

    Thanks for your reply.

First, I can confirm that the language is set to ‘Português do Brasil’.

Second, yes other plugins are showing the correct language (see one (Checkfront) at bottom of page linked to below). We are also using the Brazilian Portuguese version of WordPress. This is something we are familiar with as my wife has previously translated plugins language files into pt_BR.

The .mo and .po files are in …/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-product-catalog/lang when I look with ftp client.

After writing, my wife bought the plugin, so perhaps this request is better dealt with there?

    see https://www.londresparaprincipiantes.com/nossos-passeios-guiados/

My wife has translated the label names in the plugin itself (pro version), so this is where the Portuguese text comes from e.g. “Exibir por”

    Thanks again for your support

I forgot to say that I have also looked at the .po file in Textwrangler and the translation seems complete

    Hi Slat,

I took a look at the link you sent, but the entire page seems to have been translated.

Could you let me know what text still appears in English for you?

    Thanks again for your reply.

Indeed, everything is now in Portuguese, which wasn’t the case when I last wrote/replied. However, this was achieved by changing the label names and not through the translation.

As we have found a workaround for our needs, there is no need to continue this thread. Should we encounter a problem in the future, we will contact tech support as we bought the plugin.

    Thanks for your help
