translation to russian

  • HI there-

    I am wondering if since you already have a russian translation in the language folder if that is enough once i switch wordpress over to russian or if there is something i have to do to get the theme using russian strings? Most everything seems translated, but the READ MORE links which you can see a lot of on the homepage:

    Is there something I need to do or is this a string that was missed in the translation?

  • Looking at the po file that string should be translated. It was a user who volunteered the translation. You may have to use a plugin like https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/codestyling-localization/ to update.

    Because it is just this one line, would it be advisable to change the php file and store it in my child theme? If so do you know what file it would be? Or is this not so great a solution?

    no, I would just check your po and mo files, make sure you see the translation (it may just need a refresh on your server.) Or use the plugin to check and update the mo file.
    I wouldn’t copy the template file over.

    Thanks again. I looked at the .po file and the “read more” translation is in there. Where do I go from here?

    Test with the plugin to refresh the file on your server or refresh the file using poedit.

    That would be by suggestions.

    Hi there-

    I finally was able to update this string using poedit. But I am afraid now when the theme updates that it will revert to the old translation, is this the case? If so can I submit to you the updated .po file to use with this added string. It’s a very prominent string of text (the read more link) that I translated.
