Translation won't take effect

Hello!
I’m trying to translate your plugin using PoEdit (not a newbie, done this hundreds of times).
Even though I’ve clearly translated some strings, they still show up in English on the website.
These strings are stubborn:
“Select” = When selecting membership level
“Popular” = banner on membership level
“Change” = When in check out, the button on the top right
“The price for membership is” = when in check out
“Submit and confirm” = when in check out with free membership
“Processing” = When submit and confirm is pressed
“Thank you for your membership to XXX. Your XXX membership is now active” = Confirmation page
“Below are details about your membership account. A welcome email with has been sent to XXX” = confirmation page
“Account: XXX” = conformation page
“View your membership account” = conformation pageThese are just some of the strings that won’t translate. This plugin is affectively (and unfortunately) useless unless it can be translated.
The strings are marked _e(‘string’, ‘pmpro’) in the php files, but still won’t translate. Any ideas why?
