hank you for your response @janataweb.

I have therefore applied all the information from your FAQ and from the last topic on the forum but as you can see the translation in frontend is not done.

I would like the views and comments on the frontend to be translated into French.

see the result on a website please clic here

    @hcabrera
    I put two files that I got here “wordpress-popular-posts-fr_FR.mo” & “wordpress-popular-posts-fr_FR.po” in “wp-content / languages / plugins”
I also put in this folder this file “wordpress-popular-posts-fr_FR.json”

my wordpress site is set to French.

you can see here the screenshot Debug Setting

@janataweb please share the files with your translations so I can test them. The ones from the link you shared I assume are not fully translated and so they aren’t useful to me. Upload your .po/.mo files somewhere (like Dropbox for example) then share the link here with me so I can download them and test.

Also, please write in English. These are English forums @janataweb @victorvallet.

@hcabrera if you want I can translate all text in French and maybe you can including directly an option to choose the language in your plugin…?

It seems there was an issue with your translation of the views word, @janataweb. For some reason it was broken. When I opened it with Poedit the program complained about it. I fixed it and that word is now being properly translated by WordPress.

You can find the patched translation files here. Download the zip file, extract the .po/.mo files and replace the ones you have in /wp-content/languages/plugins with these.

Thanks, however I think it’s best if you translated the official French language pack for WordPress Popular Posts instead so other users can benefit from it as well (plus all translations will be peer reviewed to make sure they’re correct.)

Note that fully translating WPP to French can be a time consuming task, so please take your time. There’s no need to do it in a single day either. Any help you can provide with this -even if it’s not a full translation- will be very appreciated, not only by me but by all French speakers who also use my plugin.

    thank you so much @hcabrera
with your new files it works fine.

can I then edit them with a notepad ++ type text editor or something similar or do I have to correct them only with poedit?

Regarding the French translation of your plugin I will do some translation for this one from time to time.

    Again, thank you very much.

If you want to edit the .po file directly then yes you can use a text editor but IMO that’s more difficult (and error prone) than using a specialized program like Poedit for example (there are surely other programs out there that can edit .po files as well, I suggest using Poedit since it’s free and easy to use but you can use whichever you prefer really.)
