• Hello Loco Translate Team,

I currently have a strange behavoir with one of my customers websites where custom translations created with your plugin get lost after wordpress core updates. This happened a couple of times already and and every time we use a backup so we are currently stuck with WordPress 6.2.3 and are not able to update properly.

We use the latest Version of Loco Translate and Bookingo (which is the plugin that got translated) and keep those and all other plugins and themes up to date. Only the WordPress Core updates are causing this issue.

Translations are saved in the individual path “languages/loco/plugins/bookingo-de_DE.po”.

Do you have any idea why this issue appears and how we can fix it?

If you need more information don’t hesitate to ask!

Kind regards and thanks in advance,

    Jonas

I have no explanation for how or why files could be removed from this location. My understanding has always been that this location is safe during core updates. Maybe something has changed; maybe something else on their system is removing these files, or maybe your customer is mistaken as to what files the disappearing translations are actually contained in. As it’s happening on their server, and not mine, I can only make wild guesses.

If they are unable to update WordPress due to this issue, then why not back up the translation files, do the upgrade, and then reinstate the translation files? It seems like whatever is causing this problem should not prevent them from updating WordPress.
