The BPS root htaccess file already incorporates the standard WordPress Rewrite htaccess code, but it is separated into 2 different sections in order to include all the BPS htaccess security rules within the WordPress Rewrite Loop. Unfortunately, that is a necessary thing that has be done in order for the BPS security rules to work correctly. BPS creates a backup of your original root htaccess file and saves it in this folder /wp-content/bps-backup/master-backups/.
