    Hi all

I have a trial subscription to my service that expires after 3 days. However, Paypal upgrades this to a paying membership after 3 days.

How do I get the plugin to see this and not expire the user? Am I approaching this the wrong way?

Essentially I want a no-touch model that take a trial user and makes him a full user after 3 days if Paypal have taken the payment.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Adeel, what PayPal button are you currently using?

    Hi

I created the button using the Simple Membership Payments section in WordPress.

    The button attributes are:

    Title: Free Trial
    Membership Level: Trial
    Payment Currency: Pounds Sterling
    Paypal Email: My email
    Billing Amount Each Cycle: £19.99
    Billing Cycle: 1 Months
Billing Cycle Count: This is blank
    Re-attempt at failure: No
    Trial Billing Amount: 0
    Trial Billing Period: 3 days

I hope this is what you mean? Let me know if you need any other info.

Hi, in regards to your comment.

I have a trial subscription to my service that expires after 3 days. However, Paypal upgrades this to a paying membership after 3 days.

Looking at your PayPal button settings above and then reading your statement, it is correct. After the 3 day trial period PayPal will upgrade the member to full membership. You have a 1 month billing cycle with a 3 day trial period.

I am not too sure about the following comment.

Essentially I want a no-touch model that take a trial user and makes him a full user after 3 days if Paypal have taken the payment.

As far as I know the plugin is already carrying out the above action as per your comment.

Paypal upgrades this to a paying membership after 3 days.

Or am I misunderstanding your original question?

    Hi

No, you have understood the question correctly.

What happened to my user after 3 days was that he was billed by PayPal but he could not log into the site.

The message was that his membership had expired.

When I went into the Control Panel of this plugin, this user was there as a Trial user and the status of his membership was expired. I had to manually upgrade it to a monthly cycle membership.

That is the bit I need fixing because I shouldn’t have to upgrade his membership by hand? I assume that somehow PayPal should pass on a message to the plugin to say the user did not cancel after trial and therefore upgrade his account.

Hope that clarifies the question. Essentially the problem is that the plugin did not receive that info from PayPal at the end of the trial.

    Thanks

    Hi

I think that was the solution!

However, I will check over the next few days with the next trial user and let you know if it does/doesn’t.

    Thanks
