• This plugin is good, but I do not think it is fair not to mention right away UPFRONT, that it is free only for 14 days.
It is underhanded, and it seems like they are harvesting email addresses. i would have given 4+ stars but them “hiding” the fact that it is a trial .. reading the other comments regarding security makes me shiver …
    UNINSTALL done and dusted.

could this be another way how wp sites get hacked? the names with the 5 star ratings strangely resemble the spam usernames i was getting before i installed the plugin. should wpdev take a closer look at which plugins get listed? i now urgently need a replacement and password changes

The fact that the service is a premium specified in the annotation. Please look at screenshot.

    Please look https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/cleantalk-spam-protect/

CleanTalk is a premium anti-spam service for WordPress and the plugin works with our cloud anti-spam CleanTalk Service. CleanTalk offers a free trial and you can look at the pricing here. We provide anti-spam services at the highest level. To maintain this level we cannot afford to offer a free version of our service, as this will immediately affect the quality of providing anti-spam protection. Paying for a year of anti-spam service, you save a lot more and receive:

The plugin is free and open source, It is similar to many other SaaS plugins out there (like VaultPress).

CleanTalk is plugin which work with the cloud anti spam service. This plugin as a https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_as_a_service
CleanTalk it’s a free plugin which works with premium Cloud Anti-Spam service. This plugin as a service.

Free plugins are great and all, but premium plugins are where it’s at if you’re running a professional website or building one for a client.
With premium plugins you can count on better features, code quality and documentation, as well as reliable support.

Yes, there are free plugins that also offer support, great code and decent manuals, but if you want to be confident that a plugin will be updated with new versions of WordPress, or even after a security scare, it doesn’t hurt to fork out a few bucks for that reassurance. Premium options step this up a notch with some fantastic additions.

The fee that is required to be paid to download the plugin is a really small price comparing to the quality of the plugin. It is well known that paid services are better than the free ones and that applies here too.

you are missing the point completely, if your plugin is a trial offer state it upfront like all other trial software does then the user can make a decision immediately. trial buried 6 feet under … 1591 words down is the first mention of trial. this is the very reason why many will not purchase your product. be upfront, back your product, if you need penetration, ask … the wordpress community would warm up to that idea more than being tricked into downloading a trial plugin.

btw, could premium also not be free? and vaultpress clearly states
VaultPress is a subscription service offering realtime backup, automated security scanning, and support from WordPress experts.”

thanks for the lesson. please take this away from this comment, be transparent and state TRIAL upfront.

But VaultPress hasn’t mention in the description that it is a paid service.

We will think about how to do it more explicit.

    Thank you for your remarks!

The mention of price is way down on line 81… I never read that far down.

I liked the product, and it isn’t expensive.
My trial was only for 7 days, according to the trial suspension email that I received.

BUT, I am not keeping it, on principle.

If the price after trial was mentioned upfront, CLEARLY, I would probably pay it, but I feel I was conned.
    You hide this fact.

You say above “We will think about how to do it more explicit.
The easy way is to add at the top of the page: “FREE TRIAL THEN $x PER YEAR”
