Tried to deactivate iThemes and it has become a nightmare. please help!
-
Hi there,
I’m in need of your help, can anyone explain what went wrong?
So I was logged in on my WP admin and thinking that I wanted to pause using iThemes. As soon as I clicked Deactivate, and while I was still logged in on my WP admin obviously, a login box popped out and asked me to enter ‘username and password. I entered my login details but it won’t recognize my username/password. So I made a few trials, it ended up with 401 page (Unauthorized) saying I used wrong/bad login credentials – basically notifying that “this server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested….”. At this time, I was completely locked out.
I then tried to delete my history and my cache from my computer and re-tried again to login. This is what happened and till now happens; if I visit my site either from my computer or phone – it will ask me to enter login credentials. If I try to login to my WP admin, it also does the same thing, it asks for login details. And the problem is regardless I’ve put in the right login details, it won’t be “accepted” but this time with no notification message shows up mentioning the reason why I can’t log in or what’s happening.
Does anyone know if this is a normal behavior from iThemes if we want to deactivate it? Or any idea with what goes wrong in my case? How can I deal with it now? Is my site is still safe like this? I regret clicking the Deactivate button, but I am happy I’ve always had the configuration set to never ban my IP (permanently) in case if I get locked out.
If you have any advice or thoughts, I will be happy to hear from you.
Thanks.
