I love this plugin, first of all! It is so hard to find a popup plugin which allows for the use of full Gutenberg blocks! Bravo!

My website is relying on popups to simulate windows, and I was trying to use your plugin to open popups from the main navigation menu. I tried using the CSS selector feature, and the “nelio-popup-js-open-popupid” class on my menu item, where “popupid” is the ID number for the popup, but those features don’t seem to work when using a navigation menu custom link.

Do you have any advice I could try to get this to work? Your plugin works as intended when it is linked to a normal page element, just not the main menu items. Thanks!

Could you please share the URL where you’re trying to open the popups? Which CSS selector did you use?

I have actually figured out what was causing the problem! It was a conflict with the plugin “WP-Optimize”, specifically a setting which minifies the JavaScript files. Once I turned that off, i was able to use the “a[href=”#nelio-popup-####”]” CSS selector where “####” is the popup id number. Then I just added a Custom Link to my menu with the link as “#nelio-popup-####”.

I also noticed that the plugin “WP Polls” causes your popups to not work, although I’m not sure why. Since I really didn’t need that plugin, I decided to deactivate and remove it in favor of keeping your popup plugin active, but you might want to take a look at potential conflicts with that plugin in the future.

There is one other thing I would love to recommend, but I’m not sure if you can implement it, since you are utilizing iframes for your popups. But, if triggering a popup from within another popup, the second popup becomes constrained by the first popup’s iframe. I realize not many people are going to run into this issue, but in my case I am trying to create a sort of “operating system” feel, and I am using popups to simulate “windows” users can open.

I know the Popup Maker plugin doesn’t seem to have this iframe limitation, but I can’t use that plugin because it breaks my website’s user registration form at the moment. Anyway, it’s not really a complaint, as I really love how simple and functional your Nelio Popups are! I think my only issue is that the load times can be a bit long for some popups, but since ou are using iframes to essentially load a new web page, I’m thinking that is unavoidable for now.

Overall, great job! I look forward to seeing what future updates bring for this amazing plugin!

I’m glad to hear you were able to fix the issue!

Regarding the iframes, that’s something that’s bugging me as well. We might address this in the future… FWIW, back when we started developing this plugin, we didn’t use iframes, but at some point we faced some sort of limitation and the only (or was it best?) way to solve it were iframes. Unfortunately, I can’t recall what it was lol

Well, if you ever want a beta tester to help test new features in the future, I would be more than happy to help! For now, it works well as it is, and I really think you have made a fantastic plugin. I’m sure it will only get better with time!

    Hi @annikaholovatsky

We’ve updated Nelio Popups to version 1.1.0, which does not render popups using iframes anymore. I would like you to give it a try if you have time. Hope you find it useful ??
