Triggers and cookies rules disappear by itself
-
I have encountered a few times the same problem on my site. I have one popup, for which i set trigger by time, set cookies rules like not to show popup for month after submit or click on close button. It work some time, like weeks, months, but then accidently all this settings disappear. Popup still exist, it shows status “active” but in “Triggers” it is empty like there were no rules. I have feeling that it disappear each time after plugin update but i’m not sure about this. Could you please help to figure out where is the problem?

Hi @wolfage,
We’re sorry to hear you’re seeing this issue.
Can you please provide the following to help us troubleshoot?
1) Copy/paste any error messages (PHP logs, page errors, or dev tools console logs) you see.
3) Attach or post screen captures of the issue (including error messages).
4) Can you head over to your Site Health Info tab (wp-admin/site-health.php?tab=debug), copy the site info and send it to us.
5) Can you email us a screen capture of your wp-admin > Popup Maker > Settings > Misc? Make sure you get the very last setting on that tab. It will look like this https://share.wppopupmaker.com/bLuKWpoK. That setting should be unchecked.
6) Do you know if you’re running?Redis?cache on any server? You might need to ask your hosting provider.
7) Lastly, do you recall the first time you noticed the issue? Did you do a major update to your site or servers around that time?
You may email us your answers at Support Request – Popup Maker.
We appreciate your patience and we’ll wait for your message!
Hi @kimmyx Thanks for the quick response. So i don’t have any errors thrown from PHP (when WP_DEBUG is true), any front-end errors in dev console or server issues in Site Health tool. Information from site tool will under my message. In MISC settings everything is also unchecked. Redis is not used. For optimize/cache purpose only Autoptimize is used. Hard to say when we first notice this issue as this popup first time was created 6 years ago. Issue happened time time, maybe once in half of the year. Like not very often so it was a reason why i connected it with major updates of wordpress, but this time i just had fixed it around 1-2 weeks ago and yesterday i had noticed that settings disappeared again. Disappear only these settings from Popup Settings section which are on screenshot. By the way where plugin store this settings, in wp_option table or write them in json file?

debug: No debug notices found.Hi @wolfage,
Thanks for the response!
We have had several reports before about settings getting reset, and our developers are still trying to find the cause.
Similar to your case, there are no errors thrown and the issue happens randomly and out of nowhere.
We suspect it may be related to query/object caching and a missing db connection. But this is still unconfirmed.
By the way where plugin store this settings, in wp_option table or write them in json file?
Our popups are just custom post types so their settings are stored in the post meta table in JSON format.
Do you regularly backup your site? If yes, you can try to load it to a staging server and export your popups from there.
Here’s a guide: Export and Import Popups Between Sites
We appreciate your patience. ??
@kimmyx The main problem is actually not with restoring settings because it is actually task for few minutes, but problem is to notice in time that settings disappeared and popup stop to work. Is there any way to make notifications about it?
Hi @wolfage,
Thanks for the response.
Since our developers are still trying to track down the real cause of the resets, there’s no way to know when these happen.
This was also reported by only a few users so that makes it more challenging too.
We’ll post an update once our developers have made progress with their investigation.
We appreciate your understanding and let us know if you have other questions.
- This reply was modified 4 months, 1 week ago by Kim L.
@kimmyx Ok, i understand. Maybe there is any ready functions in your plugins which allows to get triggers info for popup? I think to make cron job task which will check few times per day if triggers exist or not for popup. If they not exist it would sign that reset again and it would send me notification somewhere about this. I will be able to write this code by myself, but if could suggest what plugin’s function i could use to check if triggers for popup exist or not it would save me a lot of time. Thank you!
@kimmyx Thank you for this. By the way i used php code instead Javascript to get popup triggers and send notifications about it’s status. During this our conversation this problem repeated once again and triggers disappeared again. Now i build notifications about it so will try to catch proper moment when this happens and log any errors in this moment. Hope this would help you this strange issue.
Hi @wolfage,
Thank you so much for the update!
Any information you could provide regarding the issue will help a lot in tracking the source of the issue down.
If you do find anything, please send us a message via Support Request – Popup Maker so that we can attend to it right away.
We appreciate your help and patience! ??
@kimmyx Hi! I think i catch some errors when popup triggers disappeared once again. I tried to submit ticket on your site support but form there doesn’t work. First, it doesn’t allow me attach log file, please check attached screenshot. But even without attachment when i click on submit button nothing happens, loader circle appears and shows permanently. So only way is to continue to send it here until you will not fix the form on your site. So i have notice such strange errors in the time when popup triggers disappeared:
