Trouble configuring reCAPTCHA

  • On Contact Form 7’s site the last step to install reCAPTCHA instructs us to:
    “Lastly, put a placeholder for a reCAPTCHA widget ([recaptcha]) into your contact form content.” But does not really explain how to do that well.

    Looking here I found a WordPress Support forum post that states the following solution was tested with Contact Form 7 version 4.3.1 and WordPress version 4.4.1

    “Configure plugin from Settings => CF7 Simple Recaptcha.
    After configuration, add [cf7sr-simple-recaptcha] to any Contact Form 7.
    To allow submitting form multiple times on same page, edit Contact Form => Additional Settings => and add: on_sent_ok: “grecaptcha.reset();”

    I don’t find a “CF7 Simple Recaptcha” under “Settings” so I don’t know how to configure and don’t know what the “placeholder” is, where it should go, or what it should say. I’ve pasted the two keys. All I need to do is the last step. I am using the latest WordPress version( 4.5.2). Is it not compatible or are these instructions in error for this version?

    Hello,

    you are mixing the instructions from contact form 7 authors with my instructions. Either use their captcha or my plugin. If you want to use my plugin, go to admin and find Setings in main menu, and under Settings, find CF7 Simple Recaptcha. Keep in mind you will have to generate google keys on google site, then add them to captcha config on wordpress site.

    I feel dumb for having to ask, but I also don’t understand how to add a “reCAPTCHA widget” to the CF7 plugin. If it were just an HTML page I could do it, but I don’t know what I need to modify or where to put it. I have my site key and secret code, I filled in the key fields for “Integration with Other Services,” I installed the CF7 Simple Recaptcha and filled in the key fields there, but still nothing. What exactly is the final step? Sorry if I’m missing something simple!
