• I can embed a Picasa slideshow in a comment on a post, but I can not embed a Picasa slideshow directly into the post or page that I am writing? Why?

    I am using the link Picasa gives me (same like when people embed YouTube videos etc), and in this case, it is:

    <embed type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” src=”https://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/bin/slideshow.swf&#8221; width=”800″ height=”533″ flashvars=”host=picasaweb.google.com&captions=1&RGB=0x000000&feed=http%3A%2F%2Fpicasaweb.google.com%2Fdata%2Ffeed%2Fapi%2Fuser%2Fanton.israelsson%2Falbumid%2F5193986197348306209%3Fkind%3Dphoto%26alt%3Drss” pluginspage=”https://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer”></embed&gt;

    But it only gives me the text/code on the page, it doesn’t show the slideshow.

    This should work even without plugins, no? And if so, where is a simple plugin that only enhances the page/posting options some (I like the WP 2.5 picture system except for the lack of a slideshow, so I am going to embed Picasa slideshows at the top of my picture page, and then the pictures uploaded to the webpage below them (which will be where they enter to comment on the pictures)).

    Sorry if that was messy.

    Thankful for any help,
    Anton

    Ok! Worked well!

    I will be able to use it easily, but it might be a problem for my friends/family who will want to upload pictures.. I might have to go there and edit every slideshow they want to link up :p

    So if anyone knows another way… gimme a holler.

    Just FYI – Mercime – thanks for the kind words – I wrote that tutorial and have used it many times.

    It seems though, that now the WordPress editor won’t mess up a direct embed of the slideshows.

    Just make sure that you switch to HTML view before you PASTE. That way, the code is put into the post properly, rather than being pasted in as a series of &amp;‘s, etc.

    Don’t hesitate to drop a note if you have any other questions.

    Additionally, I’ve done a small write up on a bunch of the Picasa plugins that are available here.
