The content container is not the article itself but the parent container.

div.td-ss-main-content

Also, since you are using Disqus instead if you wish to hide it put div#disqus_thread instead.

Thanks Sébastien! I’ve tried that and things sadly still aren’t working. (Though I can hide/unhide comments). Must be a a theme incompatibility?
