• Hi,
I had a WP site up but had some trouble where I thought it would be easier to delete everything and start afresh. I deleted all the files and removed WP. Now when I go to re-install WP I get the following message:

    Install WordPress (2/3)
The installation can not be completed:
    – You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.

It wont let me put it into the root of the domain name where the old one was.
Is there something else that needs to be removed first?
    Thanks, David

  • Check with FTP to see that you really got the old files deleted.

Are you on Fantastico? Find the folder .fantasticodata and inside that, delete the file installed_in_root.php

Thanks for your help. When I go into cpanel, there is no sign of any of the old files under that domain name. There are another two WP sites in there as well as add on domains so I need to watch what I delete. That fantasticodata folder sounds like it may be the cause but where do I get to that? The only thing I can see like that in the file manager is /home/masow/public_html/fantastico_fileslist.txt
    Regards, David

Becuase of the dot in front of the name, .fantasticodata is a normally invisible directory. Use FTP or turn on invisible or system files in cpanel to see that directory.

Are the two other WP installs on seperate accounts and domains? Think you should talk to Fantastico, too.

I found the .fantasticodata folder and deleted the file installed_in_root.php That actually did allow me to proceed but now I have the following issues!

    Install WordPress (3/3)

Warning: fopen(/home/masow/public_html/raisedvegetablegardens.com.au/fantastico_fileslist.txt) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico//includes/enc_installation_func.inc.php on line 174

Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/fantastico//includes/enc_installation_func.inc.php on line 177

There are about 25 of these and then:

    1) File: /home/masow/public_html/raisedvegetablegardens.com.au/wp-config.php [ERROR! ]
    2) File: /home/masow/public_html/raisedvegetablegardens.com.au/data.sql [ERROR! ]

Warning: file(/home/masow/public_html/raisedvegetablegardens.com.au/fantastico_fileslist.txt) [function.file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /tmp/cpanel_phpengine.1254204411.27468G_jiXwvJMY on line 1509

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /tmp/cpanel_phpengine.1254204411.27468G_jiXwvJMY on line 1510

I don’t want you to go out of your way for me on this but your help is extremely appreciated!

Looks like a problem with cPanel; talk to Fantastico. Are your two other WP sites working OK?

I suggest to do manual installation. It should take less time rather to troubleshot fantastico issue.
