Trouble installing theme

    Well theres two things, the first one is that yesterday I started creating my website, although I didn’t do much, I did do some things. When I logged in today all I did yesterday was gone, no more installed themes and nothing. So today I logged in and didn’t care much about it because I was going to change it anyways.

    Second thing, I tried to install a theme and i get this message:

    “Installing Theme: Simplify 3.09
    Downloading install package from https://www.ads-software.com/themes/download/simplify.3.09.zip…

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the theme…

    Could not create directory. /home/javiermdl91/public_html/wp-content/themes/simplify/

    Theme install failed.”

    So I don’t know if the second problem has something to do with the first or what is going on.

    I would appreciate if someone could help me.

    have you tried installing any other theme in from the wordpress repository?

    Yes I did try other themes and its the same problem

    Seems like it’s a problem with file permissions.

    Set your file permissions to 777 and then try installing the theme again.

    Afterwards make sure to change your file permissions to 755 again just to be safe.

    I can’t find the file permissions, where are they exactly?

    Which platform are you using? Cpanel, Plesk, Directadmin?

    Whatever you are using, login to it, Go to filemanager and change the file permissions of the wp-content folder to 777..also you may need to change the file permissions of the sub-folders of wp-content.
